The U12s kicked off a great day of rugby at the Rec, welcoming Exeter Athletic for a 12 o’clock kick off.
With massive support from Paul Edwards and Gavyn Webber, the 12s were  able to use the main changing room and have their first experience of a proper match day.
Despite only having 12 players including one with a confirmed case of man flu, every player stepped up for a Torquay win in a closely fought game. Strong running from Josh W saw Torquay take a early advantage, pegged back by well worked tries from Exeter. However strong defence and commitment at the ruck put Exeter under pressure with Torquay benefitting from inception tries from Lucca M who at stand off intelligently moved the team around the pitch. Josh W continued to cause problems both with ball in hand and in defence, with Freddie S being a constant pressure around the ruck.
Despite at times only having 11 on the pitch, Torquay kept the intensity for the full 40m, holding up Exeter with committed goal line defence from Charley A, Reuben N, Will L and Tom B.
It was fitting that the final score of the day came from Exeter with strong committed running and constant pressure seeing a well worked try in the corner.
Player of the day went to Josh W but it could have been any of the 12 young men who played today.
